When I use the pull cord there is no resistance in the flywheel.

The flywheel turns freely but there is no engagement into whatever starts the engine.

The pull cord does retract.

Is it dead?

Any help would be appreciated.

I recently purchased a home and hired a plumbing contractor to come and connect the pipes under my kitchen sink. He said that he would have to re-route the kitchen plumbing to a different plumbing "stack" in the basement. The problem is that in doing so, he completely ripped out the wall behind the kitchen cabinets in order to install the new pipes. Now I have nice new pipes and a huge hole in my kitchen wall. Should I request that they fix it or do I need to hire someone else to repair my wall? And what type of company would I call to fix this? I only have two weeks left before my new occupancy inspection... please HELP.

I live in a 30 unit building with a prehistoric boiler and we always run out of hot water (doesnt matter what time of day or night) does it make sense to connect a tankless water heater before or after the boiler to better stabilize the hot water availability? does it maybe even make sence to have one before and one after the boiler? The buildings heat is also provided by the current boiler...

I just moved into a 2001-built cottage which has three levels (basement, main floor and upstairs bedrooms/bathroom).

I noticed that when I turn on the water upstairs (both the shower and the faucet), the water is a bit smelly. It's fine after running for a few seconds but there's an initial whiff of what I would describe as "sewer smell" at first. This doesn't happen in the main floor bathroom or the kitchen.

Does anyone know what could be causing it and how it can be stopped? I'm not as much concerned about the odor as I am about the water being safe and clean.

Thanks in advance,
DT

Internet advice links say to poor hot water, bleach or a cleaner into overflow. However, this is easier said than done since the overflow hole is small and almost vertical. I've tried a small funnel, but can't position it at an angle that it works. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

Hello,
Does anyone know how can you kill mold (it is not toxic black mold) in your basement/attic? I have heard that bleach will not kill it, rather just die it a lighter color so that you cannot see it. Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I know there's mold remediation places out there, but we wanted to try to do it ourselves, first. The mold in the basement is not up to the first floor or the rafters, just on the cement wall.

Thanks!

The pump to my pool stopped working so I went to the fuse box. None of the switches were misaligned so I threw all the switches. One of them won't reset. The number on the switch is 20. I am assuming that it is the one for the pool since everything else in the house is working. In all the houses I ever lived in all you had to do was switch the switch. How can I fix this?

The bathroom was given a make over by the previous owners by painting the tiles. It has since started to wear and peel and I would like to remove it and repaint a clean, smooth surface.
