I have a frigidaire 2.1v 12,000 BTU thru-the-wall a/c. The smell is not there on the cool setting, but when the fan setting kicks in it smells very bad, like a chemical smell. A repairman came and said it's not freon, it must be mold & mildew and took it for cleaning. He brought it back and it still has the bad smell. The smell is like a chemical or paint smell, something weird. What should I do please help

Redoing my kitchen and need the pipeline either just moved or shortened. I'm told that plumbers do that, any other profession? Any idea of cost? It seems like a relatively small job.

I fitted my bathroom suit last year, about 7 months ago. I have gone through to self sealing strips that were more than useless, i have used kitchen and bathroom sealant suitable for wet areas obviously. This will be the third time i will have to re- silicone around the edge of the bath as it keeps coming away, the bath is always bone dry, i leave it the suggested length of time to cure but it starts to curl at the edges after a couple of months. Water does sit on the bath edge when we use the shower but surely there is something wrong when you have to re- do it this many times. Do i need to key the bath(sand it)? or is there a high strength silicone on the market? Someone please help before my wife divorces me and the sledge hammer gets dusted off.
Thanks
Tony.

I went to the local lumberyard today to ask them if they would make me some clothes line posts. The guy said sure and then said I probably should get 4 inch 8 feet long black metal pipe and two 4 ft long 4 inch metal pipes. I about passed out when I called the steel company and they quoted me $107 bucks a piece for the 8 ft long pipes and almost $50 for each of the 4 ft pipes. This sounds a extravagant. Isnt this expensive, or am I just behind the times?
The guy at the lumber yard told me not to use wood because it would decay and warp.
So....what do I do here, Is there a cheaper way to do this?

I'm going to be re-painting an old book cart for a library and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good high quality spray paint.

I already have a good idea on what I'm going to use, but I'm basically looking for a second opinion.

I'm thinking Krylon or Rustoleum.

My sister's landlord will not fix any of the problems she has. For instance, her stove catches on fire, water heater is too hot, there's a hole in the wall, bathroom tile is falling apart,...what can she do? She has 2 young children. She has been asking and asking the landlord to fix these problems but he just gives her the run around.

The PVC drain line from my upstairs toilet is leaking. I have found the leak and it is coming from a fitting that connects two different pipes. How would I fix this? Is there any way to do it without cutting the PVC or should I just call a plumber?

If I flush my toilet it overflows and even if I plunge it, it doesn't go down. I think my kids flushed something and it's stuck in the pipes. I can't afford a plumber so how long do you think I can crap in the toilet and not flush till it starts stinking up my apt? Either that or where I can buy a plumbers snake and how much it will cost me.

Their is something in the walls of the house I rent, I heard it yesterday and it is worse today. I was going to have someone come out today but found someone to do it cheaper tomorrow. It's really scary and I'm scared when my husband's not home because it moves around ALOT! Am I out the cost or is the landlord responsible to reimburse?

I have a 10 yr old townhouse and every time I turn the water on, there's this nocking noise coming out of one spot behind the wall. I'm guessing it's an air pocket in plumbing or something. It sure goes away after a while, but I 'd like to get rid of it. Is there a way to fix it all by yourself? What should I do?

I noticed when I moved into this apartment (2004),that there were cracks in the wall. But recently they have become more apparent. They are mostly on the walls but there are a few on the ceiling as well.I have also noticed that they must have been patched up as I see marks where plaster has been applied that I did not notice when I moved in.
I am more concerned with the safety aspect(like is the building going to come tumbling down and we are all gonna die),more than I am about the aesthetic.Has anyone come across something like this?

My sump pump is not pumping right now. I hear a humming sound once the weight pushes it on but it's not pumping any water. I tried to unplug it and plug it back in. That didn't work. I do not see any reset switch on the pump itself. Any ideas?
