The PVC drain line from my upstairs toilet is leaking. I have found the leak and it is coming from a fitting that connects two different pipes. How would I fix this? Is there any way to do it without cutting the PVC or should I just call a plumber?

Drain the toilet and line, cut the line, put in a new piece of pvc, put on some cleaner and some plumbing glue and stick it back together... let it dry for about 4 hours and then turn the water back on..

You really need to cut the piece thats bad out and just put a new piece in it. For temparary purposes you could use a product like liquid steel or some sort of epoxy rated for pvc just to plug it, but I would have it fixed the right way, otherwise you will just run into more problem down the line.

There is pipe stuff you can slap on there, but in the long run, get it fixed. A good plumber will have that repaired far faster than you've spent worrying about it. It's going to have to be repaired eventually, better now than in a middle of a blinding snow storm, Christmas day, with a house full of guests....etc.
