In a series of unfortunate events I manged to spill a small amount of aquarium gravel down the side of my sink with the garbage disposal. Ever since then my garbage disposal has been broken.

When you turn it on the "blades" dont spin, though they do move about freely when you (dont try this at home kids) stick your arm down in there to dislodge the rocks that used to keep that side of the sink from draining. I've managed to remove all of the rocks that I can and I cant feel anymore down in there now. So its able to drain again for the time being.

It wont do anything except emanate a faint buzzing sound when you turn it on.

Are garbage disposals fairly complicated or is it something the average (or above average?) can work out and make sense of?

Is it likely my husband could work on it? Or are garbage disposals just one of those things you have to leave up to the professionals? Despite the way it may sound my husband and I are quite clever! ;)

Thanks!

It looks normal, but sometimes when I turn on my washing machine, a breaker "pop" after a time and then, washing machine and refrigerator turns off, it has a 15 on it. And always is the same.
What can it be ?.

My fridge (GE model, approx 3 years old) became an oven today. The thermostat's recommended temperature is 37 degrees, and when I opened the fridge a couple of minutes ago, it read 134.

Called GE support, and the best they could do was schedule an "emergency" maintenance call on Wednesday. I turned off the fridge (pulled plug) and just plugged back in...aside from throwing out my food, I would appreciate your insight into what's wrong and/or next steps.

Many thanks...

I live in an old house which I am sure needs re-wiring. A couple of years ago we noticed a `fishy` smell when some lights were on also those light fittings were a little scorched around the rim, we solved the problem by changing the faulty light fittings but now two years later they are showing signs of scorching again, as of yet no `fishy` smell..... Any ideas folks?

Okay here's what happened: my spa has a tile-covered waterfall along the back. I cleaned the tile with Tilex brand tile cleaner. It contains phosphoric acid but the label did not mention detergents. I used perhaps 1/4 - 1/2 cup for 2 8'X6' panels of tile.
When I turned on the jets (it doesn't foam when the waterfall is on) the soap bubbles were so deep they looked like some slapstick comedy routine Kramer from Seinfeld would find himself in. All I needed was a horse to feed some Beef-a-reeno to and I was set.
Any ideas - short of draining the spa - on how to reduce the foaming? My pool guy is out of town for a week and a half on vacation. Thanks, fellow spa owners/pool maintenance people!

new socket the wall switch didn't work. So I clipped the connection between the top socket and the bottom socket. Now master bedroom lights only work when clipped socket switch in spare bedroom is in the "on" position. What did I do wrong?

I have a Potterton (Powermax) 155x combi boiler. We currently have heating, and get about ten seconds of hot water under the shower before it disappears.

We have had an engineer out and he fixed an initial problem where the boiler was continually locking out. For this he needed to replace the PCB. He also replaced two other parts - the water level valve? and another valve.

Now however we still have the hot water issue. Any ideas?

Also, if someone could tell me exactly what the switches on the 155x do that would be great - there is a "Store" 0/I switch and another switch with a little radiator symbol. Considering I tend to run the boiler on timed operation, where should these be set?

Any help greatly appreciated, three weeks of cold showers this is not fun!

My washing machine cleans the clothes just fine, but the spin cycle does not appear to be fully emptying. After it spins, as the drum comes to a stop, I hear a sloshing sound of water. The clothes are not as dry as the used to be either, and there is an odor in the machine, though not as bad of a smell as it seems many people have had after reading many posts. Has anyone had this problem?

I have got an outdoor light sensor (synapse 5056). It has got three dials underneath it.

Where can I find a manual that tells me which dial does what?
I guess one is for whether it is dark: one is how long the light stays on ; and, one is for how sensitive the trigger is.

Any Pointers out there :)
