the day after we closed on our first home - the area was hit with a big storm. I spent the evening back at our apartment as we hadn't moved any belongings in yet.

The next morning, I arrived at the house to find about a half an inch of water in the finished basement. The peel-n-stick type tiles were loose and water had clearly seeped under them as well.

I could identify no water marks or leaks in the walls or cealings and the majority of the water seemed to be on the floor near one of the walls.

I am mortified - but heard this can be fairly common.

I have a brand new single control refrigerator/freezer that frosts foods. I like my refrigerated foods colder than the standard setting, but is this ruining the food in my freezer? Would it be more cost efficient to bypass my apartment manager and buy my own dual control? I've probably lost...a lot...of money to my freezer. Ideas on how to fix it please.

The activated carbon gives off a noticeable smell and since I don't smoke or have any chemical exposures (I'm using the cleaner mainly for the HEPA/particulate filtration), is it okay for me to run it without the activated carbon filter? The cleaner already has a separate prefilter and HEPA filter, but are there any concerns to using the air cleaner in a mode whereby the fan/blower is exposed to LESS incoming air resistance than it was designed for? Any way of damaging the motor or equipment by doing this?
