LMMFAO Darkgoth.....Learn what you're talking about before you laugh at someone, As far as sticky, NO but most telephone companies use a silacone based gel to keep the connection from corroding, I myself have never seen it used indoors tho, they mainly use it outside

Are you supposed to misspell "to" when you use the words "SUPPOSED TO".

It's not TOO. or SOO or HAVIN.

BTW, that's anti-oxidizing gel so the connection doesn't corrode from dissimilar metals in the jack and the R-11 plugs. "Darkgoth" is wrong. The phone companies do use anti-corrosion gel because many cheap phones have cheap R-11 plugs that will react with the jack contacts. Saves them recalls to the job.

It's possible the sticky stuff came from telephone cable. Some of the water resistant cables have conductors coated with it. Telephone men/women call it sticky pick.

If it is causing you trouble, try wiping the contacts with a Q-tip soaked in alcohol or nail polish remover.. Also wipe the part on the telephone cord.

yes they all do. it makes for a better connection and stops that leads from getting any corrosion. the service man is probably adding more every time he comes.
