the pipe coming from the wall to attach to the shower head doesn't have any threads to screw on a shower head, it has a ball on the end..making it basically impossible to keep the shower head attached. i am not sure how its held on this long. but now when i turn the water on in the shower, the shower head basically flies off at me. funny...but not fun. i can see about an inch in from the wall that i can unscrew the pipe and attach a new one..but i am not sure what to expect when i do that, and what to know when i go to buy the pipe..suggestions?

I have one six inch duct that runs to my family room. There is only on register in that room and I want to add another inline before the existing box. I'm adding a 6"x4" register box. What type of connector should I use to tap into the 6" duct? Does it matter if I use a saddle or a 'Y'?

I put the chain back on but I cannot get the chain to turn. I tried loosening the tension, that did not work. The wheel turns without the chain. What should I try next.
Thanks.

Went to start lawn mower and would not start and I could hear a pop. Pulled valve cover and rocker arm just hanging, with adjusting nut all the way down it will not put pressure on push rod. I have not torn it down yet. If I hold the rocker in position, and rotate engine, I can feel the lobe
on the cam. Does this engine have a standard type of lifter? Since I can feel the cam, I thought maybe a bad lifter may be the problem.

La Minerve, QC: enclaved lot. Notorized access - 1000 long by /40ft wide. Can I get the permit to build ? (aparently the city requires the access to be 50 feet wide) How much would cost to bring the electricity on the 1000 feet? How many trees they let you cut to build something? Does anyone knows the rules in La Minerve?

I tried to replace an old outlet with a new one today and I accidently put the white wire into the slot for the black wire and vice versa. I used one of those quickwire outlets. When I turned the power back on, smoke started coming out of the outlet and now all the outlets in my room and in the nest room don't work. What exactly happened and what do I do now?

If you have a single handle faucet (Peerless Brand) & it is leaking at the spout where the water comes out & the set screw is stripped & cracked & you can't get it out. Do you drill the set screw out or do you buy a new faucet?

For the past several weeks we have had a lot of light flickering. Occasionally, they will go off 3-8 times in a row and stay off for a few seconds, but some back on. A few times they have gone out for an extended period of time. When they happens, I reset the main breaker and it goes back on. Not ALL the lights go out- there is a small section of the house that stays on.
This doesn't happen everyday- but somedays it will happen a lot- other days nothing will happen at all.
We have reported it to the light company five times- without any resolutions. We also had a company come out that said they could "try this or that" but they weren't sure what the problem was either.
I'm tried of resetting all the clocks and waiting for the TV's and computers to reset.
Any thoughts?
TIA!

My water heater is 12 years old and I want to get a new one. Someone recommended a tankless gas water heater and said it is more efficient and more economical. I don't know a thing about it. Is it a good idea to get this? There are 2 adults and no children in the household. Please help. Thanks.

Our CC&RS state that each homeowner is responsible for the maintanance of their plumbing and sewage that services their home even if some of these pipes are in the common area. The HOA also in many occassions has stated that they own the trees in the common area and no one can trim them or chop them down. My sewage line was intact and the tree roots that grew on top and below it eventually starting growing inside the pipe by going in through the seam between the cast iron pipe and the clay pipe. The plumbers had to break the pipe to replace it. My HOA is claiming that trees do what trees do and since we are responsible for the maintanance of the sewage we are out of luck. And they refuse to take the trees down. The HOA is citing both the CC&Rs and the California Penal code to deny our claim- both state that homeowners are responsible for their sewage line maintance. Since it is very broad, does maintance also include damage by the HOA trees. Should I sue in smaill claims?
