For the past several weeks we have had a lot of light flickering. Occasionally, they will go off 3-8 times in a row and stay off for a few seconds, but some back on. A few times they have gone out for an extended period of time. When they happens, I reset the main breaker and it goes back on. Not ALL the lights go out- there is a small section of the house that stays on.
This doesn't happen everyday- but somedays it will happen a lot- other days nothing will happen at all.
We have reported it to the light company five times- without any resolutions. We also had a company come out that said they could "try this or that" but they weren't sure what the problem was either.
I'm tried of resetting all the clocks and waiting for the TV's and computers to reset.
Any thoughts?
TIA!

It sounds as if you have an overloaded or weak breaker in your breaker box. If it is the same breaker that is resetting, you might see what all is going off when it trips. Evidently you have several plugs that also are on that particular electrical circuit, as well as the lights. When it trips off again. look to see what all is not working. If you have several high wattage items plugged into the same outlet, this will cause the problem. High wattage items would be such things as HD T.V., coffee pot, electrical iron, electrical foot heaters, microwave, window a/c units, freezers, and re-
fridgerators. If it just started happening, unless you have recently added somwething else electrical to your house it probably a weak breaker. The electric company is not responsi-
ble for home repairs, you will need to find a qualified electrician to change the breaker.

You have a loose connection somewhere that quits working when it gets hot enough. This not safe.
1- Try to find the circuit that is connected to all the lights that go off.
2- If there are receptacles involved, then there are two circuits and 2 fuses or breakers.
3- Now you know enough to tell a LICENSED electrician what is happening.
4- He can look for the problem in the panel or a junction box nearby.
Hopefully you don't have a large home and closed in basement ceilings and attic floors. (I had an infrared heat detector to help me).

your arcing out you have a loose wire. Note the lights that have gone out and call a reputable proffesional electrician they need to chase through your wires. also your lights should not be on the same circiut as your outlets unless they are plugged into the outlet. hurry!!!this can cause an electrical fire!!! if you can isolate the breaker turn it off until the electrician is there.

it could be a fue difrent things like the main powersource for the house could be shorting out somwere between the line coming in to and the box if you live in a high wind area have an electricion check your wether head and conections to your meter your house should have 2 lines that come in to it and each line controles one side of the pannel if all your problems are on one side of your breaker box then that is most likely your problem is between your box and the wetherhead
