I'm new at buying tools and I usually borrow but now I'd like to buy my own. I really love carpentry and I plan to do quite a bit of projects once I have power tools. I'de like to start out by buying a circular saw and a drill. what brands and types do you recomend that are not to expensive, will do a good job, and will last a pretty long time? and if you can, which brands and types should I stay away from?

And, yes, the power switch on the wall is on. I had not used the tub for a couple of months, but before that it was fine. Also, is the motor etc, behind the marble panel on front? How do you get in there to work on it or at least try to see what is wrong?

It's a water powered A/C unit; basically cold water is pumped throughout the building and then it goes through a fan unit that blows out the cold air. For the last few months, it was beeping every few minutes. Got annoying, talked to the super and he had someone come look at it. The guy told me "It's a fire alarm.. needs a new battery." Well, I had already thought about that and checked all of them; definitely not a fire alarm. I finally tracked the noise down to the A/C unit, stuck my head up into the trap panel and I'm positive it's coming in or near it. Finally, we gave up since all the "professionals" who came to look at it were stumped, but now it's a shrill alarm sound and it's driving us crazy. Once again, the super is no help at all. It basically sounds like a security alarm panel when it's signalling that a door/window has been left open. Kind of a high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeee..." noise non-stop. Please someone tell me you know what it is.

I am very capable but this home is very old. They are pre-dry wall. There are holes in the roof and leaks everywhere. I don't need a contractor as much as I need clear instructions. I mean it is not raining in the living room, but I think they have neglected it too long. There may be structural damage. Especially to the roof. Most contractor's only cover the roof and so far few actually repair the roof. I live in the Philadelphia metro area which includes New Jersey and Delaware.

It isn't constant. I'm on second floor. Think the a/c units are over closets but still shakes even though it's cooler. Sent letter to landlord with last rent check, never heard anything.

I was cutting grass when the mower acked like is was running out of gas, and I knew it was close to being empty. I filled the tank, started mower and it sputtered on any speed above idle. I thought it might have sucked trash into the filter, or fouled a plug. replaced plug and fuel filter. now the unit only runs with choke open. when i adjust the throttle to any other position it quits. Any suggestions?

I have a pole lamp, and when I tried to change the light bulb the other day, it wedged in the socket, and now I can't turn it either way. I'm scared it's going to break in my hand if I twist too hard. Will I have to break it, and take the remainder out with plyers, or is there an easier way? Thanks!

I have an industrial size pressure washer (the kind that has to be hauled on a trailer). We have only had the metal roof for about 1 1/2 year and I am afraid of damaging it with the pressure washer. What chemicals should I use and is there anything natural that can be used?

I have signed a contract with a contracter to do some external repair on my home that says he doesn't give estimates and that no one in the business does this. All of my neighbors have rec'd estimates on their house repairs (hail storm damage). I think I should've rec'd an estimate. I also signed a contract - didn' tknow it was that at the time - thought it was just b/c he was out to the house and wanted me to sign the document for his records. I want to know if I can break the contract by just saying I'm going with someone else or if I am bound legally to have him as my contracter.

What are some things I should ask about/look for to make sure these will work for what I need them for?
