water heater is overheating . Guessing you need a new temp and pressure relief valve on your water heater . If thats your problem cut your water heater off and replace it . It's a ticking bomb .

is it only on one faucet? is the hot side cold? is it a single handle faucet? Does it finally get cold? are the lines running close together? did someone do some plumbing work lately?

the valve can need replacing. It involves taking it apart and turning off the water.

i worked in plumbing at true value, the valve is worn out that separates the hot and cold sides, just replace it or get a new faucet set there cheap at wal-mart

armympmom's got it. Since you didn't mention any other faucets having a problem she has the answer. Repair or replace the faucet. Call a plumber or get someone who knows what they are doing. I'm assuming you don't or you wouldn't be asking the question.
