My garage door broke yesterday. One of the wheels fell off and the metal it was bolted onto is broken. The opener has a track with a chain and it is in bad condition, as well. I think it would be better to replace both than pay to have them repaired - not sure. Advice welcome. Can you recommend a brand and style for the door and the opener? Do you think Lowe's is a good place for purchase and installation (I can get 12 months same as cash there). Thanks!

Ok we have been having nothing but probs with our pool. 30x18x4ft pool. It is finally clear. The hose from the filter sprung a leak so we have not ran it for 2 days. In those 2 days the pool went from blue and cloudy to crystal clear. We fix the hose and turn the pump on and it pumped sand into the bottom of the pool. Now the water is cloudy again. What's the deal? What do we do? Change the sand or what would cause this? We have now figured that is the reason we couldn't get the water clear cuz something is wrong with the filter. It is a Jacuzzi Laser sand filter model #190L. HELP

Our attic fan broke. In this very hot weather it used to run non-stop. I went up there recently and noticed that the fan is not running non matter how hot so it must be broken. It runs on a thermastat and comes on when it reaches a certain temperature.

I alerted my husband because I think it might be a fire hazard since we have mega storage up there of boxes, clothes, christmas items, easter, halloween, ad finitem.

He says it's not necessary to hurry up and fix it because most people don't even have attic fans.

I think the combination of storing boxes of stuff, (nothing combustible), but still, PLUS the stiffling sauna type heat, might be a fire hazard and I'm worried.

Thoughts?

We just moved and my fridge is way too cold inside. Although the beer taste GREAT, our eggs are frozen. We've turned down the dial to the warmest setting. Any ideas what I could do? Would turning the fridge off for 5 or 10 hours help things? Maybe the freon got messed up in the move? We kept the fridge upright during our move as well.

I was cutting and had to stop to kill a big ol' snake in my yard. afterwards i go back to finish cutting. I pull the string and nothing. When the string is pulled, the wheel that the string is wrapped around just spins and you can also hear the blade moving just with the motion of the string being pulled.the motor wont turn over now for whatever reason. and for the smart ones, there is gas in it, spark plug seems fine, everything that you can see is connected. It's like something on the inside fell off or whatever that makes the motor turn, any help please have my yard is uncut!

The furnace is in the attic above the bathroom. Apparently it was leaking last night because the bathroom floor is wet and the rug drenched. Only knowing that the leak came from some where in the attic, I climbed up there a few minutes ago and found the pan under the furnance had a little water. The pvc pipe right above the pan had condensation. I couldn't find any more water. Any ideas?

I have a ranch home with a section of an "added-on" garage with a flat roof that needs repair.

I have gotten several estimates to have the entire roof done. Rip up the old shingles and replace ice guard and what ever else they do.

The last guy that gave me an estimate states that I dont need to rip up the old shingles on the whole house. Repair and replace the flat roof the rest of it just put new shingles on.

Is this wise? It's certainly cheaper and will look just as nice when finished? I need help please!!!
