I'm renting a house with central air that stopped working overnight.

The outside fan is blowing; inside the house I hear the vents like normal, but there simply isn't any air blowing out, no cold air, no warm air, nothing.

What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

Our house is old and has plaster walls with cracks everywhere. We're going to repair and repaint, but don't want them to recrack. A friend said you can not avoid this as it is due to the cold air outside during the winter???

My doors are about a year old, as is the hardware. My question, I need to change the keying on each door, can I just replace that or do I need to replace the whole door knob?

I have an old house. I recently tried to open the upstairs door with the key for the lock. The problem is that the key doesent work. Does anyone know how to unlock the door without the key. I removed the faceplate but did not help. Calling a locksmith is out of the question. I am going to replace the lock after the door is opened.

Hi I have a black large tile kitchen floor that was really shiny when I moved in a year ago...all of it that is. I use Mop and Glow (or is it shine?) but recently my floor has been getting blotchy and dull in some spots and no matter how much cleaning and then shining I do ..big dull splotches. The foor looks dirty in actuality ...it stays dull. I figure the best thing to do is to strip it all off and start with a fresh coating. Any ideas as to how to best accomplish this or even alternate ideas?? thanks very much.

I will convert my flat roof into a patio. I took all the gravel off (was necessary anyway, full of organic matter and moss), checked and patched suspect areas in the tar surface, and now I'm ready to put the frame and decking wood on top. Do I still need to top-up the gravel on the tar again, despite the new deck above? If yes - why?

I just bought a NEW house (built in 2006) and the air that comes out when the A/C kicks on has a new smell. Any ideas how I can get rid of it? The builders said it would go away when the unit gets broken in but it has been a month with 95-100 degree temps & I am tired of it.

I'm having the loft insulated and I was scraping the veg. (We grow our own) when the guy came in for his cup of tea. "Do you ever fancy a change?" He said, biting into a Jaffa cake. I dismissed him with "No, I like my husband's carrots". He was quite 'fit' now I think about it- To use my boy's expression. I wonder if these guys try it on at every job they go to?

Something is wrong with the tuner on my Sony Wega. I can't pull in channels w/o fuzz from the cable, but if I go through VCR (putting it on VHS) I get reception fine. Should I try changing the cable or is this within my TV.
