I know that GeoThermal is the best, but it's VERY expensive. Is a air to air heat pump worth the money over a 90 percent propane furnace?

I read that phosphoric Acid, which is in pop such as Dr. Pepper, and Coca cola, is a good rust remover. I want to know if it is or not, and if there are any household items that can get rid of rust. Such as, on tools.

I recently burchased a older home that apears to be sinking. Is the seller liable? I can now see areas where they patched cracks that are starting to show through again and ive only lived here a month. There is also a crack under the carpet about 1/2 inch wide. Its a slab foundation.

I took the carpet and pad up in the bedrooms, the floor isn't in bad shape, but it needs cleaning. This oak floor dates from the 50's. I don't know if it's been refinished or not. Carpeting has been down for at least 20 years. I was going to use Murphy's Oil Soap, but online experts say NO, that it leaves residue which will cause trouble if we do want to refinish it later. I don't want to have to buff the floor, I just want it cleaner so I can start using it now. I don't want to do a lot of work altho I am willing to get down on my hands and knees with a damp rag. I don't want to use harsh chemicals. A lot of the cleaners on the market now specify that they are for polyurethane finished hardwood floors....I don't think this is. I was going to use Orange Glo, but it's for poly. HELP is very much appreciated. I want to get this room back in use. Thanks.

I have a older brick home @1800 sq. ft. with plaster walls and really old wiring. I just really need a ballpark idea of the time and expense of re-doing the whole thing to modernize it and make it safe. Currently there are these ancient looking cloth wires and fuses in most of the house. Will they need to tear out my walls?
Any info would be appreciated , thanks!

I have cream carpets. Last year, our fireplace had a problem. As a result, we now have some black/gray smoke damage lines around the base of the walls and around the fireplace. Will a good, professional carpet cleaner be able to get these stains out? And, what company do you recommend?
