I'm renting a house with central air that stopped working overnight.

The outside fan is blowing; inside the house I hear the vents like normal, but there simply isn't any air blowing out, no cold air, no warm air, nothing.

What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

My ? would be do you hear the inside fan come on. If you do then I would think that your evap coil may have ice on it. If the inside coil is froze up that would cause no airflow. If your inside fan is not coming on check your circuit in your fuse box. If it is coming on then turn off your unit for about 8 to 12 hours then turn it back on and see if you have air coming out through your vents. If you do then you may have a dirty or partially clogged evap coil. Make sure you have a new filter and the evap coil will need to be cleaned. Hope this helps.

Check your fuse box, there should be a circuit for the outside unit and one for the inside blower unit, the breaker may be tripped!

Your filter may be too clogged. Try removing and cleaning or replacing the filter. Or there could be some obstruction in the ducts.

If that's not it, I don't know.

Could be that the circuit/control board needs to be replaced. Cost for this part is about $250.00, probably less.
