I was cutting and had to stop to kill a big ol' snake in my yard. afterwards i go back to finish cutting. I pull the string and nothing. When the string is pulled, the wheel that the string is wrapped around just spins and you can also hear the blade moving just with the motion of the string being pulled.the motor wont turn over now for whatever reason. and for the smart ones, there is gas in it, spark plug seems fine, everything that you can see is connected. It's like something on the inside fell off or whatever that makes the motor turn, any help please have my yard is uncut!

I suspect that one of the safety switches is not working properly. Most modern lawn mowers have at least one (sometimes more) safety switches that prevent the lawnmower from running if the switch is not activated. For example there is generally a bar on the push handle that you have to 'hold down' to keep this lawn mower running. This prevents people from walking away from a running lawn mower.

So.. how to determine... first look for some of the obvious things. Find the safety activation devices (bar on handle, switch on bagging attachement, etc) and insure that they are connected properly. These safety devices attached to a switch at some point.. find that switch and make sure the wires are connected properly and they are being activated properly.

Hope this helps!

Take the plug out and hold it with an insulated pile against the engine. Have someone pull the cord and see if you have a good spark. While it is out take a good look at it, the plug may be fouled. You can clean it with a small file or just replace it. Make sure the gap is correct. If you have a good spark the next thing to check is fuel flow. Take off the air cleaner and put a couple of drops of gas into the carburetor. Put the air cleaner back on and try again. If it starts then you have a carb problem.

All Briggs & Stratton fashions are thoroughbreds and as such are temperamental beasts. The awe and envy i've got faith to pay attention which you very own a 550 sequence is barely tempered via my unhappiness on listening to of of your project. I rather have had a robust think of approximately this in my shed over a cup of nettle tea, and picture that Ginger would desire to have a element re the circuit flange. whether it rather is counter-rotating, the consistent speed joints would desire to be interfering with the phasing of the blade inhibitors. a robust kick ought to treatment that. i do no longer think of the air filter out might influence issues that plenty. (i'm presently utilising a filter out from a Ferrari 458 Italia no much less on my Wilkinson 2000 and it form of feels to do the trick.) Been there done that to. You might be out of oil completely. If you use the lawn mower without checking the oil ( sometimes I forget) and keep cutting the grass, it will get lower and lower. I took mine to a fix-it shop and all it needed was oil. It cost me $ 45.00 bucks to find out. If that isn't the problem, then check the connection at the spark plug. If that doesn't work then you might need a good over haul or another lawn mover.

Possibly the carb became flooded. Remove the spark-plug once more and clean it with some sand paper as it may be fouled. Lastly, check the fuel lines (for blockages) and the fuel tank (for water).

you have a ground connected to your cutoff switch that grounds out the spark plug when you want to shut your lawnmower off... check make sure that is not sticking in the off position... most likely its sticky up by your safety bar.... you know the one that you have to hold shut in order to start.. also check to make sure that you didnt accidently knock sparkplug wire off ... good luck

It might just be overheated. Usually when that happens I just get frustrated and leave the mower in the shade for half and hour. When i come back, its fine. hah
