I just moved into a new apartment and realized that the wall socket for my dryer has a four pronged outlet. My dryer only has a three pronged cord. What do I have to do to set things up so I can use my dryer with the four pronged outlet?

My friend is moving into a basement apartment, and the concrete stairwell leading down to the apartment smells of mildew. Have you ever successfully removed mildew from concrete? What can she use to do this?

I have well water. Pump was replaced a few years ago and it has a new holding tank. A sink hole is starting to form about 10 feet from the well.

I rent an apartment, and the fridge in it comes from a company that doesn't exist anymore. There's NO instruction manual for it, and I'm not sure if I have it high enough. I have it on 4 out of 7, which is good enough for the winter, but in the summer, I have no idea where to put it. Any suggestions?

How do you know that you need to add salt to your hard water softener? How much do you add ... the entire 40 pound bag? Do you need to add anything else, like water?

I changed my thermocouple and got my hot water back. As I went to take my long overdue shower I suddenly discovered that I had no hot water coming out of my shower. Yes...I have hot water everywhere else. I just changed the fixture out last month because I could not get cold water. Now I can't get hot water. The unit is a single lever cartridge unit made by Old Home or something like that. The new shower fixture worked great until the water heater went out. Now I have the water heater working again but I have no hot water to this new fixture. Any ideas.

Twice today it is made a very loud humming noise. The first time I shut it off, and hosed it off. When it came back on it was OK, but then it made a God awful loud noise again a little bit later. Could it be a compressor going bad? It is still blowing cold. Please don't just answer to call for service because I'll do that anyway if keeps happening.

Our front door handle and lock are tarnished. I tried some special brass cleaner and it didn't even touch it. There seems to be a varnish coating on the handle. How can I get that coating off so I can shine up the brass? Thank you in advance. I welcome suggestions.

I have called my landlord for the past three weeks trying to get him to get my central air fixed. He came out once last week and said the unit was leaking freon and that he would come back after dark to find out where the leak is. He has never been back. It's supposed to get to 95+ next week, what can I do? He wont return phone calls at this point either.

I need to have a septic tank replaced outside my home. I have the option of fiberglass or concrete. The fiberglass is more money. Is there a benefit to using that over a concrete tank, or does it not matter?

I have a question about renting an apartment. Right now we have a bathtub that is cracking along the bottom. It was here when we moved in and it just keeps getting worse. I've told the landlord for several months now and she says someone will be over to look at it but no one ever comes over. When I mentioned it to one of the maintenance people he said that they've looked at it a hundred times and aren't going to look at it anymore. He said I must have broke it if its worse. Is there anything that I can do since they won't fix the thing?

I have a Frigidaire refridgerator and freezer. Ever since I have had it I have the freezer set to as warm as it will go, and it is still too cold. My refridgerator was working fine until a few days ago and now it is really warm (still cool, but not nearly enough), but the freezer is still frozen solid - Any help???
