Sounds like the gasket is gone,,,which means that you will have to replace the unit.

Start with easiest possible and low cost solution first, the first possible solution requires that you use both hands while underneath the sink holding the garbage disposal and twisting clockwise or using a flat-head screwdriver and tighting the 3 bolts. Solution #2, go to your hardware supply store and give them all the info on the garbage disposal name plate. And ask them for your garbage disposal's round rubber washer and install. 3rd solution, is invest in a new garbage diposal, they come with very easy to follow instructions and very easy to install. Good Luck and you're not a dumbass!!!

Depending on the age of the Garbage Disposal unit. If it's a few years old, I'd suggest replacing it. DIY - They're simple to install. Good luck

If its the intake hose or the drain hose, then you could probably do it yourself, but if its in the disposal, then I would go ahead and replace it, if its older than a couple of years. They aren't that expensive and the damage it can do could be worse. Go to a home improvement store and ask them for the best one and how to do it properly.
