I had the same problem and I had to make my own extension cord. I went to Home Depot and asked for a "Dryer replacement cord" that had the right plugs to go into my wall outlet, and then I also puchased a socket that my old dryer would fit into, and then I wired them up together. It worked great. However, after I had done this a friend of mine said "why didn't you just replace the cord on your dryer with the new cord? That would have been easier. I agree. I hope this helps.

Draw a picture of what the outlet looks like, then take it to a hardware store, they can find you the plug to match. Changing out the plug is easy. it's just a matter of 3 little screws

dryers take 220
the standard outlet is 110
if the wire is somewhat thick and says 220
you can buy a plugin that will work with your dryer and wire it.
