I changed my thermocouple and got my hot water back. As I went to take my long overdue shower I suddenly discovered that I had no hot water coming out of my shower. Yes...I have hot water everywhere else. I just changed the fixture out last month because I could not get cold water. Now I can't get hot water. The unit is a single lever cartridge unit made by Old Home or something like that. The new shower fixture worked great until the water heater went out. Now I have the water heater working again but I have no hot water to this new fixture. Any ideas.

Yes...I have let the water run a long time. This shower is right next to the hot water heater. Faucets farther away have hot water.

Aussie=No I do not have hot water coming out of my showerhead. That is the problem. The fixture is fine and worked great until I had to fix the hot water heater. Thanks for the input.

Scafool=I have not shut off the water shut off valves. I simply had to replace the thermocoupler. After I did so the unit lit back up and I have hot water again...everywhere except my shower next to the hot water heater.

You might have tank sediment or rust lodged in the shower faucet which is blocking only the hot water side.
Remove the single lever cartridge and clean out any water passages with a toothpick or something non metalllic so as to not damage the cartridge.
Before you reinstall it after cleaning it, run the water on hot side to make sure all the sediment get blown out.
There is also the chance that a blockage is between your hot water shutoff valve and the shower faucet, but that is a smaller probability. You would have to disassemble the shut-off valve like you are replacing an internal washer. If I were there, I would just replace the shut-off valve because they are inexpensive.
In the future, you should drain your hot water tank once a year to get rid of any sediment building up on the bottom of the tank. If not, sediment will accumulate and act like an insulator between the gas flame and the water (assuming a gas-powered heater), so the flame burns hotter and longer to heat the water. The sediment is mostly calcium, like the inside of an old tea kettle. Harmless, but too much makes your tank less efficient.

The time period is "uninhabitable", if the tenants percentage a basic water heater there is not any way for one relations to carry close how a lot water the different relations makes use of. sure, she will for that reason withhold employ or you could grant to positioned her up in a motel until eventually the placement is solved (warm water). i does no longer call it retaliate at the same time as the tenant is interior of her rights to get what she pays for, and technically you're breaking some guidelines & housing code (you need to choose to analyze to verify what your city code are too). you're operating a company, and with that concept in ideas, you company is not any diverse than your close by food market - social gathering: splendid temp in milk case... If the appropriate that you may do (which isn't the appropriate you've stated) is anticipate one or 2 day to verify if perchance you could get an appointment with a plumber sometime in the destiny, yet you nonetheless assemble employ, it isn't the tenant fault that your corporation agency isn't in compliance. once it really is resolved you need to choose to look into the recent mini water heater for each unit, they warmth water in a shorter era of time, and your gas invoice will bypass down when you're paying. In my specialist opinion, get her a room, it is going to fee a techniques below what a choose will fee for being a slumlord - i'm no longer calling you a slumlord- that is what it will be categorised. I assure you there is not any choose which will purchase the "no plumber will come out on a Sunday", it really is triple time.

does the shower unit have its separate supply valves both turned on, I mean the little ones meant for when repair or service work is done. I often close valves if I am soldering old plumbing to prevent water drippings from messing up my solder job. check for valves shut between water tank and shower. some rust or other crap might have been loosed in the pipes and be blocking the screens or holes in the valve
