What's the difference between a concrete and a fiberglass septic tank?

I need to have a septic tank replaced outside my home. I have the option of fiberglass or concrete. The fiberglass is more money. Is there a benefit to using that over a concrete tank, or does it not matter?

Concrete is cheaper for sure but you have to take an extreme care of the sealing because if any harmful material for concrete entered concrete due to permeability, it will cause deterioration, spalling and consequently failure.

Fiberglass is non corrosive and expensive in the same time.

If you have money and need to have the tank and forget it then take the fiberglass otherwise take the concrete but take care of sealing

I have seen fiberglass tanks collapse, not a pretty sight,,i would use the concrete one,,i dont know where these people get the idea fiberglass will last longer,,but i would be happy to put a hundred dollar bet on that!

I opted for concrete because I couldn't be sure about vehicle traffic in the future. And I did not want to render that area 'inaccessible' by a vehicle. If you can guarantee that no one will ever drive over it then either will work.

And I have heard of the non-concrete buggers collapsing. Not really sure why some think they are stronger than concrete either.

the fiberglass is allot better quality, it wont deteriorate

and concrete will deteriorate over time and bust or crack

better to spend the extra money

a concrete (not brick) septic tank is far more better if heavy loads are passing over it. it won't deteriorate fast if you use high strength concrete with integral waterproofing chemical.
