ok the temp outside is 99 with heat index of 105. We rent a home with broken central air. The landlord insists on using cheap companies. The last company came out 3 times and never fixed it, the second company diagnosed the problem and now will not answer the phone or return calls. The landlord is content to do nothing for now and there is nothing in the lease about air conditioning. Here is my dilema, we would buy an air conditioner but we know that the electrical is not grounded except for the stove and dryer and furnace. Is there anything that can be done to get cool air without catching the house on fire. I only want to know about real air conditioning options, not ice or regular fans.

This tree was 90% on my property and 10% on his. It was uprooted in a storm and is on his property and the vacant property next to him. Just the root base along with my broken concrete patio is in my yard. My insurance says it is his responsibility to clean it up. I offered to go in with him using this guy that was helping our other neighbor, and he didn't really respond. Is it wrong for me to have someone just come and cut the tree at the property line, fix my fence and let him deal with the rest? I don't wanna be a jerk but I don't have much choice.

This home is beautiful, in great shape, supposedly the central is working fine. There is a giant exhaust fan in the attic, it's not working. I've been told that the fan working would cool the house off tremendously. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

It's a Toro self propelled push mower.

There IS tension on the rope
when it's pulled, but no noise,
or anything else happens

Yes it has gas in it. Yes I prime it.
Yes, I've been regularly using it,
and no, I haven't been having any
problems with it previously.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

AC went out on us last night-
The outdoor unit seems to be working properly as the fan kicks on and off as the thermostat dictates.
Inside, the insulated frion line entering the furnace has a bit of ice buildup on a release valve.
The furnace seems to WANT to kick on when the thermostat indicates, however all I get is a buzz from down at the blower motor. No air is pushed through the ducts when the buzz is heard. It kicks off after 20-30 secs or so.
The circuit board has the LED light flashing properly.
I'm stuck in 90+ degree weather with a week old newborn with no one to get out to us till tomorrow :)
Does a blower motor have a fuse of its own or does the furnace have one as a whole.

We have an old cemertary from the 1800's next door to us, we would like to clean the headstone. Does anyone know what to use? It has some moss and some discoloration from age but is still clear enough to read all words. Thank you!
