This really depends. If this is a windshield, you can polish the scratches out with a kit you get from an auto parts store. If this is a plate glass window and the scratches are deep enough to catch your fingernail, your best bet is to replace the glass.

Use both 5000 and 10,000 fine grit polishing compounds. Essentially it is liquid sandpaper that you use with a buffing wheel. It will smooth out any scratches in glass.

try auto wax, polish, then compound (in that order, abrasives get coarser)
