It is OK to lay a refrigerator on it's side (such as when moving,) but you need to give 2 hours to allow the freon to settle back into the compressor after you set it upright again before you plug it back in.

I hope you do not mean permanently. You could not run it that way. Air conditioning and refrigeration units must be levelled to work properly and laying it on its side is hardly level.
Don't even think about it.

yes you can lay it on its side but before you use it again stand it upright and let it sit for 24 hrs so the refregerant can settle back in the compressor before plugging it in again

If it's not plugged in.....
For storage, it's ok, but when you need it again you have to stand it up for a day before you plug it in so all the oil and coolant will settle back in the bottom.

As long as you do not crush the freon heat exchanging coils on the back of the cooling unit, any configuration you can imagine should be ok.

Its ok but you should wait 24 hours before plugging it back in afterwards otherwise it can damage it when you turn it back on.
