Hi, Do I need to inform the electrical company if I need to turn off the power in order to change the panel from Fuses to Breakers?
My electrician says I don't have to, he can just take out the meter and this will cause the Power to be off. The problem is that I think there is a seal on the meter and the electrical company will not like it that he took the seal off. Any electrician out there with Advice? Or someone experienced?

I appreicate your reply,
Thank you

I have backwashed and added new DE, cleaned the strainer gasket and tightened it down. The pump and filter are working but the pressure is less then 5 and there is a good sized pocket of air in the strainer. I have tried alternating between skimmer and floor drain.

I have a 5 year old house that's about 2200sq. ft. I have floor vents. I get good air flow through the floor vents in the basement and on the main level. Also getting good air in one of the bedrooms upstairs. I get very slight cooling in two additional rooms upstairs (but not air conditioning cold by any means). Lastly the biggest room upstairs (the master bedroom) which has 3 air vents is a sweat box. No air flow whatsoever. Any ideas? I changed the furnace filter, but no improvement. Please help.

I tried to clean the walls to no avail. Basically ended up smearing the dirt around and making it worse. Aside from the walls, the carpets are gross and need changing, and landscaping is in need as well. What are my renters rights? Do I simply have to negotiate or is she lawfully responsible for these issues?

The carpet is very old my house was built in 1905. The adhesive is black and initially comes up ok but it is very hard and is turning the floor itself black. I believe that the black was pad at one point but they used so much glue it is impossible to get up.

I tried changing the washer but that didn't help. Could it be related to a vacuum breaker that is trying to prevent backflow?

When I moved into my apartment 2 years ago, it had painted countertops. I told my landlord and he said they would work just fine. As you can imagine, they are all scraped and chipped now even though I have been as gentle w/ themm as possible. My landlord refuses to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix it cheaply?

Help. I've placed a hot pan on the kitchen worktop and it's caused a discolouration. It's as though the varnish has come off. I just want to cover it up so it blends in. Any suggestions?

My 5 year of Town and Country minivan has this awful musty, wet sock smell that comes out of the AC when you turn it on. Help, airfresheners just mask the odor, they dont kill it. Is there anything I can do about it and what has caused it? Thanks, Barb in Pittsburgh!

Typical scenario: I get 3 bids to fix something in my house (roof, trim, A/C, plumbing, whatever). I pick a capable contractor based on their price (If I trust their knowledge and experience). Later one of the other bidding contractors calls me. I tell them I chose another capable contractor with a lower price. THEN they offer to lower their price to make me choose them instead. I want them to give me THAT lower price up front.
