If you are incredibly lucky, the damage does not extend all the way through the surface of the laminate. If this is the case, elbow grease and a mild abrasive will do the trick. Comet cleanser is always nice. To speed things up, throw a polishing disc on a battery-operated drill and do a bit of buffing. Finish up with a nice teflon-based polish to recreate the sheen of the laminate.
You may discover the burn extends below the top layer. If so, you
may have just identified a perfect site for a built-in cutting board.
I share your pain, my friend just relaminated his entire countertop after such a mishap. Good luck and God bless you!

Once I had a laminated counter top that had a burn in it. I took some fine sand paper, sanded the spot well, then took my pearl acrylic craft paints (the kind in the bottle) and mixed the colors on the spot until the area was completely covered. It was hardly noticeable.

You won't be able to get rid of the spot short of re laminating your counter top.

Put a potted plant or a trivet over it. Don't think you can get rid of the stain.

I burnt my marble countertop too. I spent some time in front of the computer for useful tips and tricks, and I found this article here very useful: http://www.miconstruguia.com/en/how-to-remove-stains-from-marble/
I hope this works for you too.
