I agree with Benny. The switch inside is really very cheap and basic. It would take longer to repair it than replace it. You can get a replacement at most hardware stores. Do make sure you turn of the breaker for that light before you begin your repair.

I had the same thing happen on a fan, basically, the little spring device at the top of the chain is plastic and breaks easily.

It isn't a big job to pull the thing out and replace or repare it. Mine was just catching and I was able to shave down the plastic with an exacto knife to make it work again. I am sure you can get a replacement for a buck or two from most hardware stores.

You really can't. The best thing to do is to replace the whole thing. It should take about 5 minutes. Just make sure you turn off the breaker that controls the electricity going to your bathroom. Best of luck to you.........
