this happened right after i cleaned it.

check and make sure that when you cleaned it you didn't get any of the cleaning supplies on the element

if your stove has a permantly lit pilot light you probably partialy blocked the pilot making go down low then surge back up.try shutting your gas supply off, check your pilot holes and burner connections,unblock if needed, check your burner controls /dials make sure they are lined up right, like off is off and not low, put it back together and check again. if that don't work call in someone, but i wouldn't go to bed without knowing for sure, the gas alone can kill ya not to mention the fire.

Turn OFF GAS UNPLUG THE ELECTRIC CORD THEN YOUR SAFE BUT DO IT NOW PLEASE!
