I have had the tractor rewired, the generator checked out, and have polarized thegenerator as instructed, all to no avail. What is my problem?

Measure the voltage on the battery. Assuming it's still a 6 volt, the voltage should be close to 7 volts while charging. If it's 6 or under, it's not charging and will have to be troubleshot. You didn't mention changing the regulator. If it's a 12 volt now, just double those numbers. You said the generator was "checked out"... by whom? And were they using your regulator or theirs?

To those saying the battery... if it starts, the battery is fine.

Did you wire it correctly for a 6 Volt positive ground?

Could be the ammeter itself.? Battery?

Your voltage regulater is probably bad..either that or,a bad battery.
