We recently got mulch in our backyard. I, of course am in charge of raking leaves. The entire back section of our yard is a play area, we have a hammock, slide, swings and a playhouse (3 younger siblings) and a few trees. When I rake, will all the mulch come up with the leaves? any suggestions on what sort of rake to use? Thanks.

I acquired an orchid, I don't know what type it is, it hasn't bloomed since I got it last year in October. What can I do to get the stems to bloom, they look green and a few of them are really long but doesn't look like it will bloom and I'm afraid it may be lacking nutrients. Some of the stems look like they have been cut. Will those grow/bloom eventually or is this a lost cause? How can I get this plant to thrive again? Any help would be appreciated.

I know that irises are best thinned in the fall, but can I successfully thin them now without adverse effects to them? I live in a zone 5 climate, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I needed to add more info..It is a five leave vine that is growing along my privacy fence. It is mostly in the sun. I live in texas and the leaves of this vine look like an oak leave. So I was concerned that it could be poison ivy/oak but when I looked that up they only have 3 leaves? Does anyone know what this vine could be? Also the leaves are jagged

We live in zone 5 and my neighbor has the most gorgeous flowers every year and she won't share her secret. Every year she plants either impatiens or petunias. Both of our yards are in full sun all day long and her flowers explode in size and color. I try miracle grow but that doesn't do it. Anyone have a trick?

Hi....this is a two part question...

l. I have six Leyland cypress trees about 5'...I put them in the ground 2 years ago....one tree got a brown limb, on the bottom, and, now is losing its color and, it looks as the needles are closing...what should i do?

2. I live in zone 6, and have mostly clay soil...I need to put up a privacy hedge in front of my house on the easement..I was thinking forsynthia, as, in the winter, if the plows come along...and, push snow on the forsynthias, that, it really will not matter, as they grow quickly...my friends advised aborvite or leyland cypress...what is your thinking on this...

thanks a bunch!

Squirrels are overrunning my garden and eating my bulbs! They are also knocking over pots and making a big mess. I know that there are products that are supposed to repel them, but I wanted some other gardeners' opinions on what is best, and if there is a natural alternative. It would have to be something that would not pose a danger to my dog. Thanks!

I plan on making a pond the size of a football field and about 20-25 feet deep, planning on making a rope swing near it so me and my friends can jump, swim, rope swing and what not. How can i keep this pond clean enough to swim in it? It is quite the ways out from my house and it will be near a bunch of trees.
