High nitrogen turf food.. the first number of the analysis (the three numbers on the bag) should be the highest.. for example: 28-6-10. Stop at Lowe's or home depot.. they offer all kinds of it.

Apply it before a good rain and watch it green up.. Water if it gets dry and get ready to mow.. Nitrogen greens grass up, but it also makes it grow.. (apply at recommended rates.. Don't over feed!)

enjoy..

Use an aerator (helps the soil breath). Then fertilize with 10-10-10 (especially in Spring before a rain). Also, LISTEN - the weed-n-feed is just an overpriced lawn fertilizer!

Get your mower cranking cause it's gonna need it.

This may seem like a strange answer but when I was a kid around NY city we went through an extremely hot summer with no rain. Everyones lawn was brown! One smart entrepreneur went around painting lawns green and probably did very well.

Put down some fertilizer - a little weed-n-feed will help things.

Follow the directions, though. Too much will burn the grass. Also, be careful where you put it - runoff can allow the fertilizer to enter a waterway, and cause problems downstream.
