I have always wanted to plant some gerbera daisies and calla lilies but never can figure out when to plant them. Is it too late to do it now? I live in Oklahoma so our weather never stays one way long. I am kinda teaching myself how to garden so any advised is helpful. THANKS!!!!

Hi, You can start these indoors early so you'll have a longer season. Once they are established and the weather is above 50 degrees put them outside.

Good Luck

No worries. Daisies are hardy. Calla Lillies not so sure about I know they do great indoors. I live in Sweden and daisies are abundant here. If you want to plant them directly outside you need to wait until all danger of frost is gone. If you plant already started plants and you plant them outside and think it might get too cold cover them. You can cover them overnight with a clay pot turned upside down or an empty jug of milk cut in half and then in the morning take it off. I have done that with a couple of plants that I bought one of them is a hydrangea I planted it too early and all the leaves fell off but every night if it got towards freezing I covered it and it has new sprouts so this is a good thing. Always remember too if it has some green on it it is worth saving- You will do fine.

Both should be fine to plant now in OK. Both need regular watering, especially the callas. Both like lots of sun.

Walmart usually has a nice selection of both. Here in SC Gerberas are perennial. Lovely flowers, easy to grow. Plunk em in the dirt.
