I have rooted a cutting (pomegranate) and have it in a pot. We are in Autumn (South Africa) and I find it is deciduous. I hope to plant it out in spring. Once it looses its leaves, how much water should I give it through winter, if any? (in the pot)

I have a low spot along the side of my house that has poor drainage and I need some ideas for what to plant that requires shade but also has deep roots to keep the soil in place. Preferably something that flowers and doesn't grow out of control. My husband filled everything in with dirt last season, but we didn't plant anything and with all the rain, the ground has sunken again and the soil has been washed away somewhat so we need something that will really take hold that requires very little sun.

It's leaning on its side in the yard and I was amazed to see it was still alive. There are some roots still in the ground but a lot are above ground. Is this something I can save?

The other day when my husband and I went to pick out flowers for our flower garden for the first time since I moved up north I saw celentro {brings back major memories of Tx} my husband told me to go ahead and get a plant but then I saw a seed package of them for almost 95% less then what the shop wanted for the plant so I bought the seed package and planted it according to the directions on the back of the package I also bought some chive seeds. My question is has any one of you had luck growing these herbs from seeds or should I just go ahead and buy the already mature plant? My second question is in regard to those instant flower garden you see on TV and QVC and all over the stores now. Do they work? Yes I know you'd have to prepair the bed but you have to do that with all plants and its something Im willing to do {or atleast have my husband do}. What has been your luck with them..Thanks

I don't accept that light is a major factor as all trees are unique in shape and the light serves the leaves more than the branches.

I have grown some tomato plants from seed. They are still quite small ( 1-2 inches ). When should i pot them on, and what or where is the best place to plant them for a good crop? What about support for the plants?

This sounds really weird, but today I was burning some weeds from last fall, and the dead grass on the lawn started to go, too. I heard that some Plains peoples tended the prairies with fires, and I was wondering if it might actually be healthy for the grass. (-: Sure, I know it's as dangerous as all-get-out. I'm being very careful, and I probably won't burn the rest of the lawn, but I was just wondering if there might be some benefits.

We have a Quaking Aspen tree and it was badly infested with, what we think is, borers. We are not sure what specific kind and would like to know so that we can find a way to kill them.

They leave long, round, narrow tunnels, and they tunnel to the middle of the tree.

What kind of borers are they? Are they even borers?
Thanks.

What wildflowers, especially in the western or mountain regions, are deep purple?

I just dyed a skein of yarn a fantastic purple and am trying to find a name for it.

So I mowed the lawn and had to dump the grass in the corner of the yard and then I couldn't do anything about that pile of grass for a week due to a combination of laziness and business. It rained once. When I finally got around to cleaning it up, I noticed that the inside looked like a combination of grass and gray cotton candy. It was infested with just about every kind of bug. It didn't taste like cotton candy.

I have a Bradford Pear tree in my front yard and this year I started seeing what I thought were weeds coming up in my yard. I have been to lots of nurseries and no one can tell me how to get rid of them. They are suckers coming up from the roots of my Bradford Pear tree.
