This sounds really weird, but today I was burning some weeds from last fall, and the dead grass on the lawn started to go, too. I heard that some Plains peoples tended the prairies with fires, and I was wondering if it might actually be healthy for the grass. (-: Sure, I know it's as dangerous as all-get-out. I'm being very careful, and I probably won't burn the rest of the lawn, but I was just wondering if there might be some benefits.

Hello- I've been doing landscaping for the last 20 years, I know of no advantage to burning lawns. Proper lawn care is the way to go.

The burned area will come in nice and even. Years ago, the local fire companies used to burn off fields as a protection against brush fires, and they would grow back as nice meadows.
