Not that I know of. Nothing scientific, but I have been using moth balls for years to deter cats and dogs from both gardens and lawns in my yard for years.

EXCEPT...I use moth flakes because I NEVER want the kids in the neighborhood to think they have found a gumball or candy. Because of the shape of the moth ball...and eat one. SO I USE flakes instead of Moth balls for safety
