When I moved into my house, the owners left a bird bath and this thing ... what is it? How do I use it ... if that's not self explanatory ;)

The yukimi is named "snow viewing" because as the granite lantern cap captures the snow fall, the lantern is believed to be at it's greatest beauty reflecting the purity of simple lines. Yukimi lanterns are very popular used near water elements and the roofs are found both in hexagon and round in shape.

These lanterns are traditionally in all japanese gardens. They are beautiful with a candle and with the snow on top.

It's a Chinese Pagoda.

The item on the right just goes on top of the item on the left. It's used as an outdoor decoration. People put them in their garden beds, along paths.....

The top goes on and its a Japaneese Stone Lantern.
It's actually very nice

Isn't this an incense burner? Light incense inside and the scented smoke comes out the holes? Looks like something I had once, only mine was a smaller indoor one.

If that's not what it is, I'd like to know too!

It is possible it was just garden decoration.
