Direct Buy is a furniture, appliance, electronics, flooring, kitchen, bath - you name it for the home, and they have it - kind of store. I know there are several across the country, and there's one by me.

We are looking to purchase out first home and I was wondering if it was worthwhile to join, as we are starting with practically nothing.

Is there anyway to sand or apply something in place of mud that wouldn't require sanding. This is not an empty room, so am concerned about all that dust getting into my existing habatat.

My beloved father is deceased, and I inherited the portait we had painted of him in 1987. I love the picture, and want to place it in the most appropriate room in the house. Are these more frequently hung in the dining room, the hall way, the livingroom, or in a bedroom?
I don't know anyone who has one, nor have seen one in a friend's home!
The size is 27 inches across by 32 inches high.
Perhaps there are some studied design persons out there that could save me from an interior blunder!
Hope so!!!
Thanks!

If the previously applied paint is oil-based, I know that water-based paint will not properly adhere to the surface. The painted surface is in good shape, so I do not want to apply a primer (I am replacing a few boards of exterior siding, and i need to apply the new paint, which was color-matched to the original paint, to previously painted boards adjacent to the new siding for blending and nail hold repairs). The previously applied paint is of unknown origin or manufacture.
