I bought this pink night gown & bought some new underwear. The undies were white & purple. Some how after about a month these items have started to look a little dingy, they could have gotten washed accidently with dark colors. So my question is can I dye these items black or red? If so, what kind of dye do I use, how much do I use & what is the best way to do this. I have never done this before. Also approx. how much does the dye cost and where can I get it? Thanks for your time.

We're a family of 4 in the northeast, in a house with a well and pump system. The house was built in '78 and the pump looks old, so I think it might be original equipment. It may have been serviced in '00, but I'm not entirely sure.

I want to know (or referal to a great website) about required maintenance, general life expectance of the pump and if there are any safety concerns, etc.

Our basement flooded last spring and my neighbor said hers flooded, too, and her water came up at the pump...I think ours did, too. What probably happened?

I just bought a 100 year old home with a finished attic, that gets very cold in the winter. I want to upgrade the insulation before it gets too cold. There is existing cellulose insulation under the floorboards, and the knee walls are insulated adequately.

I am looking to add additional unfaced fiberglass batt insulation OVER the existing floorboards behind the kneewalls.

Is this feasible, or do the floorboards have to be removed? Can I just lay the fiberglass bats over the floorboards? Will this provide adequate insultion?

I like this house but not the water source. I'd like to convert it to town water from private water and am wondering if I can afford the change. If you can also let me know whom I should talk to, it'll be very helpful. Thanks!

I have three strawberry jars full of them. Will they survive the winter (Mild - usually) if I just put them in a sheltered corner and cover them with leaves? Or if I take them in a garage, etc. will they die from no sunlight? They are so pretty I hate to lose them, but my house is already full of plants for the winter.

My plumber told me to stop using Charmin and use only Cottonelle. Anyone familiar with this please tell me if it makes any difference. He also told me that I could not flush used tampons down the toilet. I have had a lot of trouble recently with my toilets backing up and they say I have to replace terra cotta pipes to fix the problem.

I have lavender either side of garden steps. It's lovely but my kids disagree as it becomes swarmed in the summer with bees, making steps useless. Can I cut off all the long stems? I can't remove it as the house is rented. Can I cut it now as it's cold and the bees have gone?
