The vacuum is a great pest control device. Indoors just the usual candidates: flies and moths (usually already dead, I'm not quick enough to catch them on wing), spiders, silverfish. Outdoors: redshoulder bugs....kinda like a stink bug with red shoulder pads) squash bugs.......I try to stay with the harder bugs instead of squishies like tomato horn worms because of the "ick" factor. To kill them after their carnival ride down the tube, I'll give a short blast of bug spray into the vacuum and turn it off immediately, then hustle the bag into another bag and head for the trash. I could put them in the freezer until garbage day but haven't had bugs in the freezer since retiring from the hort/ento job.

Only suck up dead ones but it might be a fun game to try to catch live ones midair with a vacuum hose. I'll have to try it when I get bored.
