My plumber told me to stop using Charmin and use only Cottonelle. Anyone familiar with this please tell me if it makes any difference. He also told me that I could not flush used tampons down the toilet. I have had a lot of trouble recently with my toilets backing up and they say I have to replace terra cotta pipes to fix the problem.

tampons definitely a no no cant believe you do that- they expand and clog up the pipes.
Any toilet paper that doesnt disintgrate quicky in water will cause problems - charmin and cottonelle are probably had to break down -
Replacing terracotta pipes may help if they are old and breaking up- thats one of the biggest causes of drain blockage- so he may well be right.

TRY USING SCOTT TOILET PAPER. WORKS THE BEST FOR US AND DOESN'T CLOG THE TOILET EITHER.
