The internal cartridge is getting old and worn. First you need to determine the type (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) then go to Home Depot or Lowes or your local home improvement store and ask for a replacement cartridge.

They are pretty easy to install yourself provided you turn off the water under the sink. Basically the old one slips out and the new one goes in. The person at the home improvement store can help explain it to you.

Normally I would think a bad washer but most dripless faucets are washerless and use cartridges instead.

Have fun and good luck!

It probably needs a new washer. If the tap is turned off too hard too often, the washer breaks down, and needs to be replaced. Make sure you turn off the water to the tap before you unscrew it, or you will have more than a drip on your hands. Good luck.

I've never done this; but i'll give it a shot. Turn off the water valve under the sink, and then try to unscrew the cold handle. It may come off on it's own, or there might be a screw holding it on. If that works, then take off the washer and bring it to a hardware store and match it with a new one. Good luck!

Sounds like it needs a new washer. Not a hard or expensive job to do yourself. Get a washer from a hardware store. and you need a wrench to unscrew the tap. That's the best I can do.
