First off, I have clothes with tiny, lint-like cactus spikes in them. I'm afraid to let them anywhere near the rest of my clothes, any suggestions on cleaning them without spreading the spikes around are VERY welcome. The only things I've ever seen that are this pesky are glitter and lint. Any advice?

I have a pair of tremendous cacti by house, some type of prickly pear, which need to be trimmed back from the walkway. There are a few long thorns here and there, that I could clip off, or wrap in newspaper, or something. Ideas are welcome there, but it's not a big worry.

What really worries me is the tiny spikes, which are all over. They're as small, hard to spot, and persistent as lint. Once they touch a bit of skin, or cloth, or even soft leather, it seems impossible to get rid of them. Tracking them into the house was a problem last time. I'm tempted to coat the plant in some cheap sticky goo, that will wash off with the hose, or won't hurt the plant much.

Are there benefits in being a "Top Contributor"? Do you know of any criteria to become one? Did Yahoo, inc.com contact you via Email to participate in a "new campaign" they were instigating? Then overnight paperwork to sign, relinquishing all rights to your screen name and Avatar? Or am I the sole screen name that said, " not for sale, nor free."

fills with water and will drain water, but will not spin.
when it tries to spin it makes a loud noise (sounds like its grinding, but its actually fast clicking and as it spins down the clicking slows as well.

I have carpet glued to my basement floor. I need to remove the carpet so I can lay vinyl tile. I imagine the glue holding the carpet will leave residue that the self-adhesive vinyl floor tile isn't going to like. Can I coat it, can I sand it, or do I have to completely strip it? Any suggestions on a method for preparing the floor along with any recommended coatings or solvents would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm 17 years old, over 6 foot tall and unfortunate enough to live in the tiny box room whilst my sister who's half the size of me, gets the biggest room in the house (she is older though)

Anyway, I'm decorating my bedroom again and need ideas for a space saving bed, preferably one that I can fit a desk under so I have space for my PC. Trouble is, all these types of beds are either a) designed for kids that are 2 foot tall or b) ridiculously expensive.

My dad suggested that I get plans for building one and he'd do it himself, but I can't find any, nor can I find any for sale that don't match the criteria I said above, all I get is 'childrens cabin beds' (I don't want a cabin bed, I want one that folds away)

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

the floor is a floating wood floor, with beading holding it down at the skirting board. i want to fit a hard wearing carpet over it to reduce the wear and tear my tenants could cause to the wood. then i will still have a good wood floor if i remove the capet in a few years when i came to sell the flat. could i remove the beading, lay the carpet and use thicker beading to hold it down again at the skirting board?

I live in brooklyn and my roomate and I just found out we have bed bugs. It's not a huge problem yet (we've only seen one, but we have a few bites) but we want to stop the bugs before they get worse. We know we're supposed to bag all laundry/fabrics in the house and wash them, but most things I've researched say that an exterminator is the only way to really get rid of the bugs.

Does anyone know how much this would cost us (small apartment: living room, bedroom, and small office/closet) in brooklyn/nyc area? Does anyone have any recommendations (of exterminators or an effective way to do it yourself?)

Thankyou!

We just moved into a new house and they left the pool uncared for. It is flourescent green. The season is over and we want to close the pool but we know we have to clean it first. What do we do? We are going to head over to a pool store tomorrow but I just wanted to get a heads up.
