You can do that. The website is http://www.designerathome.com/. You pick a room you want to decorate; answer a short online questionnaire about the room's purpose and your preferences; and send in room measurements, photos and $250. Two weeks later, you get a design scheme, like paint-by-numbers for your room. You take the job from there.

Decorators dont do this for free. Some magazines have contests where you can submit rooms for make overs so you might look into those. Why not talk to a local college that has a degree in this and see if they could offer some ideas from the students. That might be a fun project for a class.

some furniture store will offer a design service...where I work is it $100.00 for an in home visit...can be more if you are not going to buy new things and just want to "get ideas" . But if you are a buying customer then most company's will wave the fee or do it free from the start. good luck!!

HGTV's Rate my space has some beautiful rooms. People post and ask for advice. Some will ask not to rate, just for advice, its fun to check out anyway! And has lots of beautiful rooms!
