I want to block out the bust road I live next to (I'm in Utah). What would be the best bushes to plant that grow really really fast? I want them to be as tall as possible, as quickly as possible. Also, when is the right time to plant them? Thanks!

Plant shrubs in the fall or spring for best results.

Good Luck! Hope this is helpful.

If you want a year round screen, you should plant an evergreen type of shrub. Exactly what you choose depends on how far north you live. Some hollies, such as the Nellie Stevens hybrid, are evergreen, grow very fast, and are very attractive, but won't survive north of about Zone 6. If you need something that will grow in the north, the best evergreen choice would probably be a conifer such as a juniper, arborvitae, spruce or pine. Many of these grow quite big, but smaller growing ones are available. There are some other evergreens that would work, but some of them are harder to grow and would need more attention than the ones I mentioned

Well, I'm also in Utah and I have no idea what a bust road is. You could try Viburnum or Virginia Creeper (if there is something for it to climb on).

You could email Joy Bossie. She is my local favorite expert. You can email her with your questions and she will usually respond within a few days. She has helped me many times. Her email is: askjoy@joyinthegarden.com

My Morning Glory grew from a 4 inch plant to over 10 feet high this season. Last winter I pruned it all the way down to ground level and its HUGE now. With beautiful purple flowers.
