I think that the subfloor is damaged as well...it has a bump in it now....I am heartsick...we don't have the money to pull it all up and replace it. It goes all the way through my entryway, halls, dining and kitchen.... :(

Will the blade get damaged, stuck? Is it dangerous? What happens? Or is it no problem?

I live in a very old house that has thick floor boards to the basement then very thick plank wood on that, then luon board and linoleum had been placed over that.

I recently had new cabinets installed in my kitchen. The contractor cut out the linoleum, luon board and 1/2" plywood then shimmied the cabinets up 3/4th inch for tile to be installed afterwards.

A tile contractor came to my house after and stated that the cabinets need to be raised another inch to fit ¾ inch plywood down and 1 inch for the tile and other material.

Does anyone have another suggestion of how to lay a tile floor without moving the cabinets?

Can tile be laid directly on the plank flooring leveling it with the material used to set the flooring?

Can we just put down ¼ inch plywood to create a level surface? This contractor said the tile will crack, but my house is 150 years old, I think it has done all of its settling.

I hired a landscaper to remodle my backyard, removing half of the lawn area to replace with concrete to extend land area. He gives me 2 options since he's two-days behind his schedule.

1. Wiremesh concrete. (That's what we agreed in the first place)

2. Using fiberglass concrete. (The option he gives me later on stating it doesn't require to lay the wiremesh but just pour the whole area, but it's stronger and last longer than wiremesh concrete.)

Since I'm not familiar with fiberglass concrete, I'm not sure if he's trying to cut his time to go with easy method?
What are the pros & cons on these 2 options?

The pump is a few years old and the pressure switch is a year old. The pressure switch will "stutter" several times during the day and trip the breaker. Could the pressure switch be bad already? Maybe it needs an adjustment (one screw for high pressure, one for low pressure) Could the pump be going bad?

My husband and I just bought a waterbed from someone, and there's non of the treatment left in the box of supplies that came with it. I don't think I can find any at my local Walmart either! Is there anything else that could work like bleach or chlorine tablets? And how much would I use?

What are the differences between those (PAR30, PAR38, BR30, R30, and possibly others that I don't know about) light standards. I currently have recessed lighting and (I think) BR30 light bulbs in hallways and common areas. I have PAR30L's in kitchens and bathrooms. They use the standard E26 socket? How viable is putting CFL's in there? I've read that CFL's shouldn't be put in enclosed areas such as recessed lighting. Is it still a problem with modern CFL's? I don't want to spend $15/bulb and have it die in 6 months. Can I put R30 CFL's in the same sockets as the BR30 and PAR30L's and have the same (or similar) lighting conditions? Thanks for the reples.

Tearing down an old shed in back of my house, I found copper tubing, I think it was used for plumbing, man who lived here years ago, worked on cars, lots of heavy metal parts, and junk under the "house"..The copper that I can get to is very bendable, looks like tubing, for plumbing? I heard that it is worth alot these days, alot means what? Thanks, and where do I sell it, and not get ripped? I do know that this is copper, had a plumber verify it.

I will have it under control and I will not grow it in my yard or anything. I will put the pot of kudzu in a cage and do experiments with it. I WILL NOT PLANT IT ANYWHERE BUT IN A POT. THIS IS FOR EXPERIMENTAL REASONS ONLY.
