I have an old record player that is varying in speed. I cannot get the platten off to see what is the problem inside and the two screws that are on the bottom do nothing to allow me to get into the unit. The platten must come off some way but I don't want to force it. Once in I think I can find and fix the problem.

I bought a lay-z-spa hot tub on ebay. The heater has packed up within 3 days of having it. It is not covered by the warranty as I do not hav a retailers purchase receipt. Is the ebayer responsible as It has broken straight away? This was a brand new item. I have emailed the seller but had no response. This was alot of money and now I am left with a hot tub that doesn't work after less than a week....any advise or experience would be great??

I feel like a nut for turning the heat on, but my thermometer read 60 degrees in the house and I just cant take it this cold in here. I feel stupid. Its supposed to get up to 80 degrees in a couple of days here.
Would you have turned your heat on or toughed it out? This house is big and old. Its only supposed to get up to 62 here in Illinois today.

my rcd is rated at 30ma! the area i live in has a lot of electrical problems! the electricity board says this is due to either birds or branches hitting the wires and we get a short break in supply, they have now fitted auto reset in the system, but quite often my trip goes, my wiring has been checked out and all is in good condition, will fitting a 100ma rcd sort this problem out? or any other sugestions other than moving house

Where does the term "piss ant" come from? My mom is from the appalachian region and that is what she always calls "regular" ants as opposed to bigger black ants.

Hi - I've burnt a couple of saucepans and am disappointed that the stainless steel coating has worn of in patches on the inside ot the saucepan. The patches are darker in colour. Can this be recoated? Also, I'm concerned that the worn areas may be poisonous because the coating of stainless steel was needed to protect the food from metals etc.
Any ideas?

I have a piece that I want appraised, but before I even take it to the appraiser, he wants to know the history of the item - when it was purchased, how much was paid and from whom it was purchased. This piece was given to me as a Christmas present by my parents in the early 1970's. So I have a general date, but I do not know the seller's name or where he was from or the exact amount paid for it. I thought of contact the bank where my father had his checking account, but it went out of business about 15 years ago. Any other suggestions?
