my boat gets mould inside the roof at winter time have tryed using plates of salt it works to an extent anyone got any better ideas

Damp Rid-It works like the salt, only better. Most hardware stores/home centers sell it. It will need to be check/refilled a couple times over the winter, but it should do great for keeping the moisture down, as long as the boat is covered tight to keep as much moisture out as possible

A better idea is to buy a de-humidifier. They're basically a fridge with a motor/fan pulling air over the cold coils, condensing the moisture into a removable container. They usually have a settable humidistat (like a thermostat only for humidity not temperature)

How about a zillion of those silcon packets that you get with your electronics that you're not supposed to eat.....sorry.....the smart alec in me couldn't help it
