I feel like a nut for turning the heat on, but my thermometer read 60 degrees in the house and I just cant take it this cold in here. I feel stupid. Its supposed to get up to 80 degrees in a couple of days here.
Would you have turned your heat on or toughed it out? This house is big and old. Its only supposed to get up to 62 here in Illinois today.

I am in Illinois too. I turned mine on, just to take the nip out of the air.
I am baking pies so the oven will warm it up some too.
It is cold though, isn't it?

Well I Used To live in NH So I Know And Love the cold But I Would Turn It Up A Little And Grab Some Blankets And Sweaters So A Little Of Both Just Pile on the Blankets And Seaters Maybe Even You Heavy Winter Jacket If You Happen To Have One!!

I live in the state next to you, Iowa, and i just turned my heat on. Don't feel stupid. after all its better than freezing. Old houses tend to get cold fast. There is a saying here in Iowa. If you do not like the weather, wait five min because it always changes. I think that can go for the rest of the Midwest. I can not wait for it to warm up already!

Happy you did good if it's too cold turn up the heat! I have a sister that lives in Indiana, and she's the same. It's not stupid at all! I'd probably stay in bed wrap in a blanket! I lived in Maine once and at this time of year it was cold in fact cold most of the time for me. I like warm climate but not too hot, like this year up in the 100's! I went to Winter Haven, Florida in Jan. this year, it was real nice and cool! Have a good day and may God bless you! Jimmy.

Hello,,I live in Indiana and it said 41 degrees when I woke up this morning, I knew it was gonna get chilly last night so I closed the windows, and this morning I put on a sweatshirt and made a cup of green tea, it is gonna get warmer today (62) keep your windows closed and open the south curtains. You must be new to this area, wait until winter and you will be really paying for not getting used to the chill.

Im in Illinois, too. I did the same thing - it's good sleeping weather when you're under you're blankets - but you wake up - it's da** cold!
I turned it on this am just to take the chill out - but in about an hour or too, I'll turn it off !
Oh, life in the midwest! We really have only two seasons - cold and hot!

Some people would turn the heat on and other would just wait it out. Me I would just turn on the heat to take the chill out and shut it back down. Because the weather is very changeable. Hope this helped

Turn on the heat just enough to take the chill out of the house. You shouldn't feel stupid and for any one who thinks you are for turning on the heat, screw'em.

I also turned my heat on today. I can take a chill if i'm on the outside, but it's supposed to be warm when i'm indoors. Don't feel guilty.
