We want to extend it w/ pavers to make a larger area. Is it better to pour more concrete and put the pavers above it or... something else. We live in Utah where the ground freezes and we would like low maintenance. What is the best option for us. Thanks for your time

Every single CFL that I own that is 15watts or under is not instant-on. The package claims that it is instant-on, but it is not. Why is this?

I own two 20watt bulbs, and one of them is instant-on. I'm really puzzled because I thought that if one of the 20watts was instant-on, then the both should be. Most of my bulbs are the same brand (GE), but three bulbs are from Sylvania.

Please explain!!! Thanks.

No matter what I try, every time I fold a fitted sheet, it looks very sloppy. There seems to be no way to make it look neat. How do I go about folding it correctly?

I checked the circuit breaker and there are 2 switches stuck together and two spaces labeled washer/dryer so I assume its a 220 outlet. When I asked the resident manager he assumed it was a 110 because most of the townhouses have a stacked unit which has a 110. The previous owners had a new circuit breaker put in so I am assuming it is a 220. So does that mean there is more than one 220 outlet back there? I am asking because I want to switch from a stacked small apartment washer dryer to a separate front loading washer and dryer which requires a 220 outlet for the dryer and one (not sure if it is a 110 or 220) for the washer. The current one is stacked and is in a small closet so I can't just pull it out.

I have 2 of these trees growing on either side of the porch of an old house in central Texas. Evergreen, tall, leaves are about 4" long but very narrow, like 1/4" to 1/2", thick and dark green. Fruit looks like a juniper berry but single and much larger. Not a cedar like we have growing in the hill country, leaves are much larger, branches grow upwards instead of downwards, tree silloutte doesn't have the cedar shape. Top half of one is dead, some branches on the other are dead....would like to know how to care for and trim but I haven't seen these before. Thanks!

I am trying to develop a no-till garden. Right now the spot I want to use is planted in sweet corn. What would be good crops to grow over the winter to help prepare the soil and also provide organic material and mulch for next year? I live in southern illinois. I am considering using a mix of legumes for nitrogen fixation, something else for organic material/mulch, and possibly another crop with deep roots for soil penetration. I would like to be able to start planting no till by the last week of april. If anyone has any experience in no-till gardening I would like to hear your input. Thanks

I just finished installing a Larson storm door. Everything went smoothly, however the door will not close tightly, unless I stand on the outside and lift it up into the frame. I'm assuming this is due to having not so sturdy of a door jam and the fact that this is a heavy storm door. Is there a way to shim the hinge side up a bit? I'm thinking of removing the door threshold to make more room, and the weather striping on the bottom to see if that work. Last resort would I be able to remove all the hinge side screws and pry the door up 1/4 inch before redrilling and fastening screws?

thanks

i call them maple bugs but we have so many they r becoming a pest. we have been using a spray bottle with soap and water in it and spray it directly on the maple bug. but that is very time consuming and once some die more pile in. i was wondering if there is any non-expensive way that i could just put something outside that the maple bugs will attract to and maybe eat at and kill them so the number will start to minimize. any suggestions are great.

And, if I can use 2 board, do I need to attach them to each other??

I have a cheap ohm meter or whatever it's called. Haven't used it in a long time. I have an outlet that does not work. I want to test the power supply to see if I have power. Do I just hold one piece of the tester to the hot and neutral wire? does it matter which one I hold where?
