With roll roofing you need at least a 2/12 pitch that means for every 12" in length you need to drop 2" and use sealant on the 4" overlap, Aluminum roof coating will buy you some time it is spread on with a roller and can be picked up at any lumber store or hardware store, you will need a few 5 gallon buckets.

Roll roofing is not very good stuff. You really need modified rubber on it. I agree with the tarp suggestion, but..how much roof are we talking here, the whole roof? Not sure how big your house is, but if you plan on living there indefinitely, I would convert that to a pitched roof. It might cost you 20 grand, but modified rubber roofing is very expensive too. It will add a lot of value to your home to have a pitched roof.

Using waterproof tarps will get you by for a while.
Put boxes or saw horses under them for some pitch so you can direct the rain water to your gutters.

Flat roofs suck. You need ptich to move the water.
Simple 2/12 (raise 2 ft, run 12 ft) rafters are only $40 -$50 each. Or you can make your own. Then sheath and roof it.

Well, you've already wasted money on the roll roof, now you want another temporary fix that'll cost more money, then someday you'll spend the money to do it right. In the meantime, leaks are damaging the infrastructure that will require additional repairs and expense. Do you see where I'm going here?

You may not have a choice, You can call a mortgage companies and get a home loan and get a new roof and throw in a few extras while your at it, like maybe a new bay window or doors siding how about a new shower bath unit. call around for the best deals and do your homework before you sign.
