My kitchen floor is linoleum and I try to keep it pretty clean (hard with two kids). No matter how often I mop it, we all seem to get a dirty black coating on the bottoms of our feet! I recently switched to a Swiffer Wet Jet but that doesn't seem to help with the problem.

Am I using the wrong cleaner? Is there anything that might work better for this situation?

I've built a large doghouse and it's made of OSB board. I was planning on covering it with wood or siding, but someone told me that the OSB is waterproof and would stand up to the elements if I just paint it. Is that correct?

Settling an argument with my wife. We got new cabinets and the contractor says he will not stain the interior. My wife says it should be stained, thats the way it is supposed to be done. I do not agree with her.

We are looking to purchase a new sofa but have two puddy cats, what is the best sofa fabric to go for? I know that whatever we choose it will get plucked to a certain extent, but if we could choose one that has the possibility of lessening the damage is would be great! If anyone can advise it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

p.s. they have a scratching post but they still seem to love the sofa :) x

I need to bond two open ended cookie sheets together( they will overlap in their centers by 4 inches) to make one perfect sized cookie sheet for my odd sized convection oven in my kitchen-less studio apartment...

How can I bond these two tin plated steel cookie sheets together? The overlap would be perfect for glue or silicon--an adhesive that can take oven temperatures to at least 400F...? Because of the overlap, the adhesive would never come close to having any contact with food that would be above on the cookie sheet(s). Plus I use parchment paper liners for baking...

Any ideas are most appreciated.

I have Nubuck, or brushed leather furniture. I know I can not use leather conditioner on the furniture, and I am aware of Nubuck cleaning solutions. But are there any care products or care tips I should be aware of for long term care?

I know there has been a discussion on this. My issue is similer but different. LOL

My parents (Central Wisconsin) have been trying to get rid of These Big Black ants in their back yard. You know, those ants that are about the size of a dime. They have tried everything. Put boiling water on them, used pesticides. Nothing works perm. They come back every year. They are killing the grass in that area. The ground looks flat but when you step on it you sink slightly and ants start pouring out.

They seem to stay in one area of the yard. Whenever we try some pesticide they go away slightly but the next year they are back in massive swarms again.

The only annoyance of them is that they are killing the grass, making the ground nothing but dirt. They dont go in the house, that we know of, and we dont know if they byte. They just swarm and run fast when steped on.

Any Ideas?

I have a twenty yr old central system with poor air flow to the farthest vents. I had a tech come in and he found some significant leaks. Most of these were from the 4" take-offs. Another problem he suggested might be the "squirrel cage" of the blower could be plugged up. Does this make sense? What else would you suggest?

I need to have my deteriorated fiberboard siding replaced - but my existing soffit and fascia is newly painted and is in fine shape. My contractor says that new siding without new soffit & fascia will not look good.

Will installing new vinyl siding without installing new soffit, fasica and window wrap look and perform ok?

My house is sort of old and a few weeks ago something dropped in our front closet and hit the back of our wall, we realized that the wall sounded hallow. We did a little exploring and realized that there would have to be an open room behind the wall. So far we have only hammered a fairly small hole but it is obvious that there is another room back there. I was wondering if this is cool, or weird, or if something like this has happend to anyone else.

Thnx

We came home after a week away and our carpet was soaking wet, and the adjoining wall between ours and next door's was wet too. It's an unoccupied house though, and we have no idea who owns it. It's an end terrace, and it looks like there is a leak outside next to the property, which could be running through theirs and into ours. We've phoned everywhere, but nobody can help because they say they can't gain access into that property. Does anyone know who we need to speak to? I'm so worried! Our carpet is sodden!

I had a healthy, robust pathos. It had vines that were 5 feet long. Then I moved it and although it's still facing the same direction, it gets a lot more light. Now all the leaves are shriveling up, but they are still green. It doesn't need water, I still give it the same amount as I always did. Is it ever going to recover from the shock of the move?
